Pinto Lake Park is owned by the City of Watsonville and operated by the Parks and Community Services Department. The Parks and Community Services Department can be reached at (831) 768-3240 Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The City of Watsonville has established a permanent boat inspection program and fees in order to prevent the infestation of Pinto Lake by Zebra/Quagga mussels. Effective September 22, 2009, the City Council established a new fee for boat inspections and revised the launch fees paid by boaters.

Boat and Watercraft Inspection Fees
- Per boat and inflatable watercraft over 12 ft. - $5
- Per canoe, kayak, inflatable up to 12 ft. - $3
Day Launch Fee
All Pinto Lake customers will pay a daily $5 launch fee.

On December 9, 2008, the Watsonville City Council approved the following interim plan to prevent the
infestation of Zebra/Quagga Mussels at Pinto Lake Park. These measures are in effect now.
- Restricted Use of Lake by Boaters: Restrict access to the lake through February 28, 2009 for those boats that have not been previously inspected during the two-week pilot boat inspection program in November 2008. New boat inspections will not be conducted for the period of December 10, 2008 until and including February 28, 2009;
- Continue Shore Fishing: Shore fishing will continue to be available year round; however, live bait stored in water will not be allowed as the water used to maintain the bait could contain larval forms of the mussels and contaminate the lake;
- Continue a Limited Free Pilot Boat Inspection Program: A limited pilot boat inspection program will resume beginning on March 1, 2009 through August 30, 2009. Boat inspections to occur during the first weekend of the month from 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. and Monday through Friday from
7:00 A.M. until 9:00 A.M;
- Banned- Boats with Bilges, Live Wells, and Other Plumbed Systems: Boats that contain bilges, live wells and other plumbed systems will be permanently banned from the lake as they are extremely difficult to inspect.

Traveling North on HWY 1 from Monterey: Take Green Valley Road and follow for 3 Miles.
Traveling South on HWY 1 from Santa Cruz: Take HWY 152 Watsonville/Gilroy exit, Then take the first left onto Green Valley Rd. and travel 2.6 Miles.
From Freeway 101: Take 152 or 129 west. We suggest 129*, 152 is steep and winding.
From San Jose over Hwy 17: Take HWY 1 South, Drive approx. 30 min. Take the HWY 152 Watsonville/Gilroy exit. Turn left onto Green Valley Rd.
From I-5: Come over Pacheco Pass (152) to HWY 101 in Gilroy. Take HWY 129.*
*From HWY 129: Come all the way into Watsonville Turn right onto Main St. Turn right onto Freedom Blvd. Turn right again onto Green Valley Road. After you pass the intersection of Airport/Holohan and Green Valley Rd., Continue one half mile on Green Valley Rd. Campground on the left.
